2025 GMC Canyon vs 2025 Toyota Tacoma

The 2025 GMC Canyon may cost a little more than its competitor, but for good reason. The latest Canyon is much better suited to handle any job in any condition in Canton, unlike the Tacoma which leans into its affordability with a cheaper product. If you mean serious business, the 2025 Canyon is more powerful and functional.

Performance

See the difference in best-in-class standard torque when you drive the new GMC Canyon in Millersburg. The 2025 Canyon delivers up to 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque on the iconic TurboMax engine that comes with a proven track record of reliability. Remove any doubts with the off-road capabilities of the Canyon AT4 with specialized off-road suspension and an advanced hill descent control system, towing up to 7,700 pounds in Tow/Haul mode. However, you don't have to go with the AT4 or AT4X to experience true power. Other available features that enhance your drive include a two-speed Autotrac transfer case and an automatic locking rear differential.

Even with two power outputs, the 2025 Toyota Tacoma can't hope to match the Canyon's specs. The Canyon's i-FORCE engine puts out 228 HP in rear-wheel drive and 278 HP in all-wheel drive, neither of which has the means to beat the Canyon in a display of raw power. The new Tacoma offers available driving enhancement systems to increase capabilities like trailering upgrades and suspension stabilizers, but these upgrades don't mean much when the truck's foundation is already weak.

Safety Features

Heavy-duty jobs in Millersburg call for top-tier safety systems. The 2025 GMC Canyon delivers exactly what you need to handle any task with confidence starting with the standard Canyon Pro Safety Plus package. Forward Collision Warning, Automated Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane-Keeping Assist continue to have your back at no added cost. Some upgrades we highly recommend, however, include Rear Pedestrian Alert to warn you of anyone you may have missed when backing out of a parking space. You can also have up to 10 camera views at your command including a segment-first underbody camera so you can check under the Canyon without taking a step out.

Other than the Tacoma's standard Toyota Safety Sense package, there isn't much more on the table from Toyota this year. The available Multi-Terrain Monitor system covers your sides but doesn't have an option for an underbody view as the Canyon does. The Tacoma also supports BLIS and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, but that's nothing new.

Interior

"Compact" means nothing but good in the latest Canyon. Despite its smaller frame, the 2025 Canyon's cabin is spacious and completely decked out in tech and convenience features. An 11.3-inch infotainment screen and 11-inch driver display come standard, and you can add an extra 6.3-inch multicolor head-up display to complete the set. The 2025 Canyon Denali stylizes your ride with an exclusive Jet Black interior with Teak accents so you can feel right at home in the comfort of your truck. Heated chairs with 8-way power adjustments set the stage for long drives whether for work or pleasure. Wireless smartphone charging and connectivity come in handy when you're on a tight schedule.

Mostly for show, the highlight of the 2025 Toyota Tacoma is its available 14-inch infotainment display. Compared to the rest of the cabin, however, the larger screen hardly feels worth the lack of everything else. Mind you, that 14-inch screen doesn't come standard. In fact, not much of anything comes standard in the Tacoma which reminds you of its affordability in exchange for a lackluster ride.

Bottom Line

There's plenty to look forward to in the 2025 GMC Canyon, and not nearly enough in the latest Tacoma. This makes going with the new Canyon an easy decision among Millersburg residents whether the goal is unrivaled power, tailored safety features, or homestyle comfort.
