2025 Chevy Tahoe vs 2025 Ford Expedition

Not all Tahoes are made the same, and that's what's so great about them. You can shape your Tahoe to be a reliable family car that you can always count on. What about the Ford Expedition? The 2025 Expedition is a cookie-cutter situation in an attempt to create a "one size fits all" vehicle. If you don't like it, well that's on you. Considering this, chances are you'll have a much better time with the new 2025 Chevy Tahoe that's much more generous and considerate.

Performance

Drive how you want with 3 engine options in the new 2025 Chevy Tahoe. The standard 5.3L V8 gets you 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque while the upgraded 6.2L V8 bumps that total up to 420 HP and 460 lb-ft of torque. Are you a diesel lover? Good news is coming your way. The new Chevy Tahoe offers a new Duramax diesel engine capable of 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. With all these choices, your Tahoe will feel specially made just for you. Add a reliable Dynamic Fuel Management system and 10-speed automatic transmission, and you have yourself a well-rounded (and extremely capable) ride.

If you were looking for choices in the new Ford Expedition, you're better off turning around right now. The new 2025 Expedition comes with a 3.5L twin-turbo engine with 400 HP, and that's all aside from the high-output version with just 40 more. These specs might work for some, but it leaves out all the drivers who want something more practical. Not everyone wants to pay that high sticker price for power that they don't need, and those people are left at the front door of Ford's big party.

Safety Features

Chevrolet offers more standard driver-assist features in the new 2025 Tahoe, because what could possibly be more important than your safety? Base-model features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. That's really all you need to tread safely, but you can add more to your arsenal if the job calls for it. Adaptive cruise control can support hands-free driving if you're looking to relieve some fatigue while you're making it to your next spot. You can also get up to 14 camera angles so you can navigate busy areas with ease. The new Chevy Tahoe is clearly made to handle any situation, always putting your safety first.

There isn't much that the new Ford Expedition does that the Tahoe can't also do. You should know, though, that lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist are optional features in the Expedition while they're made standard in the Tahoe. And while the Expedition may support BlueCruise hands-free driving, the Tahoe also supports autonomous driving among other things.

Interior

With as big as the Tahoe is, you bet you can find a lot going on inside. The new 2025 Chevy Tahoe carries a whopping 122.7 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats down. Manipulating the seats is child's play with a sliding second row that takes little effort to activate. New to the Tahoe's standard feature lineup is a massive 17.7-inch infotainment screen for clear and easy access to everything you need. For the kiddos in the back, you can keep them occupied during long drives with dual headrest-mounted entertainment screens for movies and shows. The new Tahoe looks good in either classic High Country or sporty RST.

The new Expedition is still pretty far behind in the tech department, capping out at an 11.1-inch infotainment screen. What makes matters worse is that your basic climate controls are consolidated onto this small screen with no physical controls that would have made this once simple task now a hassle. You could opt for the available 24-inch panoramic display with a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, but that'll set you back a bit on an already more expensive ride.

Bottom Line

The new Chevy Tahoe doesn't just have more personality. It gives you the means to create your ideal family vehicle with more options than we can count on our hands and toes combined. There's no sense in settling for what Ford feels like giving you in the Expedition when you can make something that you can call your own.
